One hundred years from now
It won't matter who you thought you were,
Who I thought you were,
How much money you had,
What kind of truck you drove,
How many cattle you had,
Or how many bulls you rode,
Nor who yer daddy was,
But it will matter if you knew Jesus.

The PERFECT Tree

I'm pretty persistant when it comes to decorating for Christmas. I always want to do it the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I want to go cut our tree and get it all done. This year we were at the deer lease all that weekend, but I did but put the stockings on the mantle and some lighted garland on it on Sunday when we got home. So the tree HAD to be up today, December 1!
It has been so dry here and we didn't have much luck last year when we went to cut a tree. We just bought a pre cut one from there. So, I had decided I would just use my fake tree this year. I asked Landon if that was ok, and he said he wanted a real tree, so, I obliged. :)
My brother told me about a tree lot in Harker Heights that was selling trees that the guy raised and drove in from Michigan. I chose to go there for our tree.
Thursday morning I asked Pappo if he could take us there in his truck. Landon was ready to go pick his tree.
When we got there, I told him we needed to look around and find the one we wanted. He went straight to the back of the lot and stood by this tree. He said "I want this tree" I pointed out other ones, and told him "there's a tall one", "there's a fat one" He replied with "NO!! That is not the perfect tree!!" I asked him where the perfect tree was and he went right back to the first tree he went to when we got there. He had found the PERFECT tree and was not going to change his mind. He had double thumbs up for this tree.
He helped Pappo carry it to the front of the lot so that I could pay for it.

They had a full load carrying our PERFECT tree, all the way in Texas from Michigan

Landon helped Pappo put the lights on the tree for me. I do not like putting the lights on the tree. I will do all other decorating, just not the lights.
Landon put the first ornament on the tree, and went on from there. He helped Pappo do his the day before so he had lots of practice already. He told Pappo "I just love the holidays" He is so "big" for an almost 4 year old.
Landon put his ornament from each year on the tree
(more on that on a later post)
When Daddy got home from work Landon met him in the driveway to tell him about the perfect tree we had decorated, and that he needed help putting the star on top. Daddy stood on the arm of my chair (because thats a better option than a ladder I guess) and they put the finishing touch on our tree.
Our PERFECT tree
